PVP Manufacturer Supply CAS 9003-39-8 Polyvinylpyrrolidone / PVP
Description
Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) is a water-soluble polyamide. Commercially available PVP is divided into four viscosity grades according to the FikentscherK value: K-15, K-30, K-60, K-90, and their relative molecular weights are 10,000 and 40,000, 160,000, and 360,000, respectively. K value or relative molecular mass is one of the important factors that determine various properties of PVP. Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) is soluble in water, chlorinated solvents, ethanol, amines, nitroalkanes and low molecular fatty acids, and is soluble with most inorganic salts and a variety of resins; Insoluble in acetone, ether, etc. Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) used in the matrix of dropping pills is odorless, tasteless, white to yellowish waxy solid with a relative density of 1.062 and pH of 5% aqueous solution ranging from 3 to 7. Polyvinylpyrrolidone is hygroscopic. Good thermal stability, soluble in a variety of organic solvents, high melting point.

Polyvinylpyrrolidone/PVP Chemical properties
A crosslinked homopolymer of pure vinylpyrrolidone.
Polyvinylpyrrolidone a flowing white or nearly white powder with definite hygroscopicity.
Polyvinylpyrrolidone has a slight odor.
Polyvinylpyrrolidone is insoluble in water and all common solvents such as ethanol and ether, so the molecular range can not be determined.
However, polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) has the ability to severely bond with a variety of substances (such as various pigments that cause wine and other beverages to discolor).
And because of its insolubility, it is easy to be removed after filtration.
Polyvinylpyrrolidone / PVP Application
Polyvinylpyrrolidone is widely used as thickener, emulsifier, lubricant and clarifying agent, and also as the complex of PVP-I disinfection agent.
Polyvinylpyrrolidone is also used as a disinfectant for medical purposes, aquaculture, and animal husbandry.
